Happy New Year! Even though it’s already the middle of January! I haven’t been very constant with the blog lately, but this will change this year.
Last year was a year of changes, big ones. Happy ones. I got married to the love of my life, the most wonderful man on earth; we moved to our first home together which implied changing neighborhoods and kind of getting to know the city again; and I started my online pastry shop!

Cinnamon Rolls

Because we can’t find cinnamon rolls in France, I’ve never actually had the chance to fall in love with these beautiful little pastries. Nevertheless, I’ve always wanted to make them. But making cinnamon rolls for two is a little too much. I was afraid of eating the whole thing by myself. :)
Finally, the opportunity presented itself or rather I created one and gave myself the perfect excuse for making a batch. I decided it would be good for my husband to take some freshly baked goods to work to share with his colleagues. So now that I knew I would not be having them around the house for long I put myself to work.

Plum Cake

Plum Cake

A few months back I found myself with my fridge full of plums so I went on a quest to find the perfect cake to put them to good use. There so much plum jam one can eat. :)
I came across this recipe from the New York times (link) that had the best reviews… Actually they were praises. It was easy, straightforward and most importantly it took 15 minutes to put together. I went ahead I gave it a try and we loved it! I’m actually not the kind of person that likes fruit in cake all that much, but this one had no mistakes!
It was great but I didn’t have as many plums as the recipe called for, or the right size of cake pan so the look was a little different, less pretty one would say. Still very tasty though.
